From an area of unappealing industrial buildings, Kaļķu Street Quarter has developed into a creative, industrial, and modern neighborhood with small factories, workshops, and cafés, where visitors can not only spend time and explore but also participate in various production processes.
The largest and most active production site is a brewery “Duna”, where visitors can not only purchase and taste the products, but also see and learn about the brewing process and its nuances. Duna is an independent, small brewery created by beer and flavor professionals.
Right next door is Curonia Coffee Roastery, where visitors can taste specialty coffee and watch the coffee roasting process. Each cup truly tells a story, and the roastery’s owner welcomes every coffee lover with fascinating stories, interesting facts, tastings, and discoveries that make experiencing coffee a completely new adventure.
The quarter is also home to an active metalworking company, offering a range of welding and forging services—from construction materials to modern interior design art pieces.
Visitors can also enjoy the Texas-style BBQ restaurant “KOPA”, where they can savor delicious meals and watch the cooking process. In addition to traditional indoor cooking, several outdoor grills are used to create uniquely prepared dishes.
Kaļķu Street Quarter provides a genuine musical experience as well. Guests can witness the extraordinary and hear amazing stories from the world-renowned, unique piano builder Dāvids Kļaviņš, who relocated his workshop from Hungary to the quarter. Klavins Piano creates one-of-a-kind pianos that impress not only with their design but also with their magical sound.
In the summer, the courtyard at the heart of the quarter is set up with tables and seating, decorated with leaves, and hosts events in collaboration with Klavins Piano and world-famous musicians and artists. Visitors can enjoy fantastic concerts while tasting products made right there on-site.
Kaļķu Street Quarter is beloved not only by locals but also by visitors from across Latvia and around the world. It continues to grow and evolve, offering an increasingly diverse environment for entrepreneurs and culture enthusiasts alike.
