Lake Vilgāle

Lake Vilgāle is popular among anglers and leisure visitors. A changing room and a recreation area have been set up by the lake. Nearby is the Vilgāle amphitheater, connected to the lake by stairs with several viewing platforms.

The lake is surrounded by a wide reed zone, so a boardwalk has been installed to provide access to the water.

The area around Lake Vilgāle is part of the historic lands of Bandava. Evidence of settlement in the area includes artifacts found in the 1920s near Bauži homestead.

The average depth of the lake is 1.9 meters, with a maximum depth of 3.6 meters.

Fish species in the lake include pike, roach, perch, carp, tench, bream, crucian carp, and others.
