Exhibition “Suiti Traditions”

The “Suiti Traditions” exhibition tells the story of the four most important events in the lives of people in the Suiti region: baptisms, weddings, funerals, and various church and seasonal traditions. This rich and colorful exhibition features both tangible and intangible cultural heritage items typical of the Suiti area. On display are traditional objects associated with these ceremonies, such as a cradle, dowry chest, coffin, and festive table. A particularly striking feature is the Suiti wedding scene, showcasing traditional Suiti costumes used for weddings.

The exhibition is complemented by audiovisual materials, including historical photographs of local people participating in traditional celebrations, as well as audio recordings of songs associated with each type of ceremony.

The main goals of the exhibition are to promote the Suiti cultural heritage and create an engaging cultural tourism destination in Basi. The concept for the “Suiti Traditions” exhibition was developed by the most active members of the Suiti community. Costumes and textiles were made by Suiti artisans and weavers from Alsunga. A particularly valuable contribution comes from historic household items generously provided by the residents of Basi.
