The only Milk Museum in Latvia is located within the Berghof Dairy Manor complex.
The museum houses a total of 250 exhibits, collected from various places, kolkhozes, and donated by different dairy farms and enthusiasts. The staff of the Dairy Manor will share fascinating stories about the dairy industry in Latvia, and show how milk is collected, cream is made, and butter is churned.
One of the most valuable exhibits is a gift from the British Queen to Latvian dairy producers in the 1930s for the best export butter – a butter box from that era.
The museum is also home to Venta, a specially made talking wooden cow, and a calf named Druvis, who will explain how milk is produced. Visitors can even participate themselves by milking Gauja, a gentle half-cow, and then separating cream from milk and churning their own butter.
The Milk Museum offers an enjoyable and educational experience for everyone – young and old alike!
