Pils ielas apkārtne, Kuldīga
The City Garden is located in the oldest part of Kuldīga, on the site of the former Teutonic Order and later Duke Jacob’s castle. Despite the passage of time, parts of the castle walls built in 1242 and the old castle wine cellar are still visible today. The Kuldīga Museum is also situated within the City Garden’s territory.
The City Garden has long been a popular place of relaxation for both locals and visitors. Here, a reservoir with a fountain has been restored, pedestrian paths created, a gazebo built, and viewpoints and small bridges constructed. The garden is richly decorated with 22 sculptures by the sculptor Līvija Rezevska.
Additionally, while taking a walk through the City Garden, the Kuldīga Museum actively and engagingly invites visitors to get to know the “silent townspeople” of the garden—the sculptures by Kuldīga’s Honorary Citizen, sculptor Līvija Rezevska.
