Īvande Evangelical Lutheran Church

The current Īvande Church was built in 1815 near the Īvande Manor, on the shore of a lake, and consecrated on November 12, 1816. Until World War I, the church served both German and Latvian congregations. In 1936, the church was fitted with a galvanized sheet metal roof, and the building was renovated, with repairs made to the altar, pulpit, and pews. The pulpit and altar are designed in the Classical style. The parish leader discovered the date 1858 and the name Miķelsons carved at the base of the pulpit, possibly the name of the craftsman who created the interior.

The Īvande congregation persisted continuously even during the Soviet era, thanks to the dedication of certain local parishioners. Today, services are held twice a month. The church has excellent acoustics, making it especially suitable for vocal performances.
