As early as 1792, a masonry church was built, which in its exterior is relatively simple and resembles many other churches in Courland.
The Valtaiķi Evangelical Lutheran Church is particularly notable for its 15 beautiful and finely crafted stained-glass windows, commissioned in the early 20th century by Baron von Manteuffel in Italy, based on designs by Vilhelms Purvītis. Four stained-glass windows surrounding the altar depict the knightly virtues of courage, piety, mercy, and charity, while the remaining windows illustrate scenes from the New Testament.
Each window cost 700 gold roubles—for comparison, a single cow at the time cost 3 gold roubles.
The church features an ornate Classical-style interior with Rococo elements. The altarpiece “Golgotha” (1833) was painted by Johann Leberecht Eggink.
