Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church

The Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church was built in 1640 at the request of the King of Poland, confirming Duke Jacob as the heir to the ducal throne of Courland.

The church was constructed with a simple exterior architecture influenced by the Italian Renaissance. In contrast, its richly decorated interior—adorned with sculptures and ornamental details—was created in the typical Baroque style of the 17th century, with a strong Rococo influence.

The church contains several notable and elaborate works of art, including the 16th-century sculpture Madonna and Child and a 17th-century confessional decorated with paintings.

According to art historian Imants Lancmanis, the figures of the pulpit were carved in the Baroque style in the first quarter of the 17th century by the Liepāja wood sculptor Joachim Kreicfeld. The side altars, the organ façade, and the chancel barrier were created in 1775 in the Rococo style by the Czech wood sculptor Josef Slavíček.

At 6 Liepājas Street (entrance from the courtyard) is the Convent of Our Lady of Sorrows, where Dominican sisters serve.
