Rudbārži Barons’ Tomb

The mausoleum was already looted by treasure hunters in the mid-20th century. The cemetery is surrounded by a circular stone wall and massive brick pillars, some of which have partially collapsed over time. In the center of the cemetery, old vaults are visible, exposed by grave desecrators.

The barons’ cemetery is located within the Rudbārži Park. The park is unique, featuring one of the largest Douglas fir plantations in Latvia, as well as vast stands of giant Scots pines, European larches, and Norway spruces. Many rare tree and shrub species can be found here. It was originally designed as a manor park with rare tree plantings, which, despite the passage of time, have survived, adapted, and even continue to propagate. The park has an interesting landscape with hills and valleys, and a stream flows through its territory.
