Next to the oldest preserved bridge over the Alekšupīte River is the city’s oldest window, which, together with its shutters, fittings, and windowsill, has survived from the 18th century. The window can be dated to the time the building was constructed and is a valuable testimony to the materials used and the craftsmanship of that period. The view from the bridge over the Alekšupīte, including the building’s rear façade and original windows, has been preserved to a high degree of authenticity and reflects the urban landscape of the Duchy of Courland and Semigallia.
