Around the Riežupe Area
Within the expansive territory of the Riežupe Nature Park, there are many smaller and larger forest trails, allowing visitors to create a route according to their preferences. Alternatively, we offer the chance to enjoy the park’s landscapes on two pre-planned routes – 18 km (short loop) and 23 km (long loop).
Both routes pass by the Riežupe sand caves, which form the longest underground cave labyrinth in Latvia. From April to October, the caves can be explored with a guided tour.
Beyond the Riežupe sand caves, the trail becomes quiet and peaceful, ideal for enjoying rural and forest landscapes. Along the path, you will find abundant ferns and blueberry shrubs, as well as several remarkable old trees.
The routes cross the “Ventas Valley” Nature Reserve and the Riežupe Nature Park, characterized by slope and ravine forests, sandstone outcrops, and numerous rare plant and animal species.
