Padure Forest – Small Loop

This route is perfect for a longer walk, enjoying peace and quiet just outside the city limits. The 11 km trail will satisfy berry and mushroom pickers, active children, and tireless pets alike.

The route takes you over the Veckuldīga Hillfort, across the ancient rampart, over the Krāčupīte stream, and further into the Padure Forest. Along the forest paths and roadside, you will find countless berries and mushrooms without even searching: blueberries, lingonberries, raspberries, chanterelles, birch boletes, honey mushrooms, and many more.

About halfway along the trail is Dzelzavots, a small forest spring with a sign and a cup for drinking.

A little further past the spring, you will see wooden gates leading to Tigava Pond. This scenic area hosts scout and guide camps and is located on private property, where visitors are welcome as long as they leave the area tidy.

After walking along forest and country paths, the route returns to the city.
