The 51 km Skrunda Area Cycling Route offers a journey to discover both human-made and natural wonders in the Aizpute and Skrunda regions.
From Aizpute to Sieksāte, you can visit Kazdanga Castle, which houses the Kazdanga Museum and an exhibition of the Forest Museum.
Nearby is the Kazdanga Manor Park, established in the early 19th century. Today, covering 196 hectares, it is one of the largest and dendrologically richest manor parks in Latvia. The park is notable for its walking trails, observation tower, birdwatching boardwalk over Dzirnavezers, cycling paths, wooden sculptures, and a network of paths, benches, and small bridges.
In the Skrunda area, you will find the “Garīkas” Shiitake Mushroom Farm, where you can learn about the cultivation process and health benefits of this delicacy, as well as taste various mushroom-based dishes prepared on-site.
Nearby is the Sieksāte Dairy Museum, where you can explore the history of Latvia’s dairy industry, hear stories, and even try milking a cow, processing milk, and churning butter.
The ride from Sieksāte to Kalvene passes along quiet country roads, while from Kalvene back to Aizpute, you can enjoy the wide landscapes of Lower Kurzeme. The section from Kalvene to Aizpute can also be done via an alternative route along the Forest Trail, which runs on small country roads instead of the asphalt road.
