Walking Trail Along the Venta River in Kuldīga
The trail runs along the left bank of the Venta River all the way to the new bridge in Kuldīga, offering scenic views of nature, opportunities for birdwatching, and a chance to experience the gentle flow of the river. Along the way, visitors can enjoy a view of the Venta Rapid (Ventas Rumba), the most significant geological feature within the “Ventas Valley” nature reserve and the widest waterfall in Europe, stretching 249 metres.
The trail is 2.4 km long one way and forms a loop at the end, allowing visitors to return along the same route. For those inspired to extend their walk, the route continues across the new Venta Bridge, through Mazdārzs, Saldus, Valciņi and Stendes Street, all the way to the Old Bridge over the Venta River. This extended route totals 5.4 km.
The trail also allows for a peaceful evening walk, as it is illuminated between Pils Street and Vienības Street, making it suitable for enjoying the scenery even after sunset.
